Representative Chris Pappas, who has served New Hampshire’s 1st District in the U.S. Congress since 2019, recently addressed several legislative and policy issues through a series of posts on social media. Pappas, a Manchester native and Harvard graduate, discussed topics ranging from proposed Republican legislation to bipartisan efforts targeting the opioid crisis and infrastructure priorities.
On July 12, 2025, Pappas criticized a recent Republican bill for its potential impact on local communities. He stated: “The Republican law is a cruel bill that contains deep cuts that are going to impact NH communities. Its impacts will be nothing short of disastrous for health care, food assistance, & energy costs. I will continue to stand with NH families in this fight.”
In another post dated July 13, 2025, Pappas highlighted his support for law enforcement efforts against the opioid crisis. He wrote: “We must ensure law enforcement have the tools they need to take on the opioid crisis and crack down on drug traffickers. I helped pass bipartisan legislation to permanently schedule all fentanyl-related substances as Schedule I drug.”
Later on July 13, 2025, Pappas addressed infrastructure concerns following discussions with USCG Acting Commandant Admiral Kevin E. Lunday at a House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hearing. He said: “These repairs need to be prioritized. I was glad to speak with USCG Acting Commandant Admiral Kevin E. Lunday about this issue at a House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hearing recently. I’ll continue working until it gets done.”
Chris Pappas succeeded Carol Shea-Porter in Congress in 2019 after previously serving in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010.
