U.S. Representative Chris Pappas, who represents New Hampshire’s 1st district, has addressed a range of issues in recent social media posts, including government shutdowns, the anniversary of the October 7 attack in Israel, and local community recognition.

On October 6, 2025, Pappas criticized the Republican Party for political actions that led to a government shutdown. He stated, “Americans should not suffer because Republicans, who control the House, Senate, and White House, are playing partisan politics and have forced our government to a standstill. My Keep the Heat On Act would ensure heating and energy assistance is funded during a shutdown so https://t.co/eF2rxVGUd3”.

The following day, October 7, Pappas marked the two-year anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel. He wrote, “Two years ago, Hamas terrorists coordinated a horrific attack on Israel, murdered 1,200 innocent people, and kidnapped hundreds on the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Today we must honor the memory of those killed and call for an agreement to release the”.

Later on October 7, Pappas recognized John Danforth for his service to the community. In his post, Pappas stated, “John Danforth, a U.S. Army veteran and devoted community leader, was named Hooksett Lions Club 2025 Citizen of the Year. I was honored to present him with a statement read into the Congressional Record commemorating his accomplishments and commitment to his community. https://t.co/gAcB8qdRDA”.

Pappas has served in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Carol Shea-Porter. He previously served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010 and is a lifelong resident of Manchester, New Hampshire. He graduated from Harvard University in 2002.
