Rep. Chris Pappas, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Hampshire’s 1st district since 2019, has recently addressed several pressing issues through his social media platform. Pappas, who succeeded Carol Shea-Porter and previously served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010, has voiced concerns about healthcare, veterans’ affairs, and economic policies affecting his constituents.

On June 17, 2025, Rep. Pappas highlighted the potential impact of proposed budget cuts on rural healthcare facilities in New Hampshire. He stated that “12% of New Hampshire’s rural hospitals are at risk of closing if the Republican budget scheme goes through with its devastating cuts to Medicaid.” Emphasizing the existing challenges faced by families in rural communities regarding access to care, he warned that these financial reductions could endanger lives.

Later that day, Rep. Pappas expressed his stance on veterans’ access to healthcare services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In a tweet posted at 20:04 UTC, he asserted that “Veterans answered the call to service and fought for each and every American regardless of our political differences.” He stressed that no veteran should be denied VA care due to political reasons.

On June 18, 2025, Rep. Pappas addressed economic concerns related to tariffs imposed by the current administration. At 13:37 UTC, he tweeted about feedback received from local businesses regarding these policies: “I’ve heard directly from New Hampshire businesses about how deeply this administration’s reckless tariffs will hurt their bottom lines.” To mitigate these effects, he is advocating for legislation aimed at curbing what he describes as indiscriminate tariff measures.

Chris Pappas was born in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1980 and currently resides there. He graduated from Harvard University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
