U.S. Representative Chris Pappas, who represents New Hampshire’s 1st district in Congress, recently addressed a range of local and international issues through his social media posts, focusing on the government shutdown’s effects on community organizations, developments in the Israel-Hamas conflict, and funding challenges for educational programs.

On October 9, 2025, Pappas wrote about his visit to Dover to meet with several local groups: “Today in Dover I met with community organizations, including @StraffordCAP, @DismasHomeNH, and @HopeonHavenHill, to hear from them about the shutdown’s impact on their services, and also the urgent need for Congress to take action on rising health care costs facing families every”.

The following day, October 10, 2025, he commented on recent developments in the Middle East: “The agreement between Israel and Hamas that will return the remaining hostages and pull back Israeli troops is a crucial breakthrough. The war must end and relief must get to innocent civilians in Gaza who desperately need it. I am hopeful that this ceasefire will help build”.

Later that same day, Pappas discussed educational funding issues after meeting with students at the University of New Hampshire: “Today I met with students at UNH from the TRIO McNair program. The Trump administration canceled funding for this program, so it ran out of funding at the end of September. Our efforts to get Sec. McMahon to deliver these promised funds to our students have been unsuccessful,”.

Chris Pappas has served as U.S. Representative for New Hampshire’s 1st District since 2019 after succeeding Carol Shea-Porter. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010. Born in Manchester in 1980 and currently residing there, Pappas graduated from Harvard University in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree.
