Rep. Chris Pappas, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Hampshire’s 1st district, has recently made a series of public statements on social media regarding various issues affecting his state and its residents.

On June 20, 2025, Rep. Pappas addressed the absence of a full-service VA hospital in New Hampshire. He stated that this situation forces veterans to travel long distances for essential care or leaves them without access altogether. In response to this issue, he announced his intention to introduce legislation aimed at resolving this problem: “New Hampshire still lacks a full-service VA hospital, meaning our veterans may not have access to, or may need to travel long distances for, essential care. Today I’m introducing legislation that would finally right this wrong.”

Later on the same day, Pappas expressed concern over potential changes affecting specialized services provided by the 988 hotline for LGBTQ+ youth. He condemned any efforts to remove these services as both immoral and wrong and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting vulnerable youth: “These are kids asking for help, and this is a resource saving their lives. Taking away the 988 hotline’s specialized services from vulnerable LGBTQ+ youth is immoral and wrong. I continue to stand with our LGBTQ+ youth and will fight for this service.”

On June 21, 2025, Rep. Pappas celebrated New Hampshire’s historical milestone as he marked the state’s birthday. Reflecting on its legacy as the ninth state to ratify the United States Constitution 237 years ago, he expressed pride in his roots and dedication to serving his home state: “Happy birthday, New Hampshire! 237 years ago the Granite State was the 9th state to ratify the United States Constitution. I am always proud to be from and to serve our incredible state.”

Chris Pappas has been representing New Hampshire’s 1st District since succeeding Carol Shea-Porter in Congress in 2019. Born in Manchester in 1980 and a Harvard University graduate with a BA obtained in 2002, Pappas also served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 until 2010.
