Rep. Chris Pappas, U.S. Congressman representing New Hampshire’s 1st district since 2019, marked Martin Luther King Jr. Day by attending several community events and sharing reflections on the civil rights leader’s legacy through a series of social media posts.
On January 19, 2026, Pappas wrote, “Great to start the day with community members for an annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day brunch buffet at Soel Sistas. Dr. King told us: ‘Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle.’ The work continues and endures.”
Later that day, he posted about another event: “Stopped by the Martin Luther King, Jr. Coalition’s 44th annual event at Memorial High School in Manchester this year. Together, we fight for hope, justice, and equality.”
Reflecting on a previous gathering in Laconia, Pappas stated: “I joined the community celebration in Laconia yesterday as we pay tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and all his work. We are all connected, and we must do our part to bend the moral arc of the universe towards justice.”
Pappas has represented New Hampshire’s 1st District in Congress since replacing Carol Shea-Porter in 2019 and previously served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010. Born in Manchester in 1980 and currently residing there, Pappas is also a Harvard University graduate.
