Chris Pappas, a U.S. Congressman representing New Hampshire’s 1st district, has shared a series of statements regarding current issues through social media. As a member of the U.S. Congress since 2019, Pappas’s statements focus on various economic and social issues.

On April 1, 2025, Pappas addressed the potential benefits of cutting a tax on heavy trucks. He stated that “Cutting this tax on heavy trucks will help America’s Main Street economy grow, strengthen our supply chains, and lower costs for business and families while also supporting the adoption of safer and cleaner trucks.” He emphasized the bipartisan nature and common sense approach of the measure.

In a tweet posted on April 2, 2025, Pappas criticized actions that could potentially undermine support for low-income families. Highlighting the importance of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), he expressed concerns, stating “This is reckless and irresponsible. LIHEAP helps low-income families keep the power on, stay warm during the winter, and more. Gutting this program’s staff risks these families’ lives and leaves them out in the cold.”

Later on April 2, Pappas addressed the administration’s approach to spending cuts. He made it clear in his social media comments that the administration’s approach could harm communities in New Hampshire. He stated, “It is clear that fundamentally this administration does not understand how to reduce spending without wreaking havoc on communities and families in New Hampshire. People’s lives, their health, and their futures are at stake.”
