Rep. Chris Pappas, U.S. Congressman representing New Hampshire’s 1st district since 2019, used his social media platform on January 14, 2026, to address healthcare policy changes and legislative efforts affecting addiction services and insurance enrollment.
In a post from the morning of January 14, Pappas criticized recent actions by the Trump administration regarding support for addiction and mental health organizations in New Hampshire. He wrote, “No community is untouched by the addiction and mental health crises, and as we finally start to see progress in this fight in NH, the Trump administration is choosing to rip the rug out from under organizations on the front lines. It’s deeply cruel and wrong. I won’t stand for” (January 14, 2026).
Later that day, Pappas reminded constituents about an impending deadline for healthcare coverage enrollment. He posted, “The current deadline is tomorrow. To sign up for health care coverage, change your existing plan, or learn more, visit: https://t.co/u0Hif9GzlY” (January 14, 2026).
He also outlined legislative steps being taken to extend access to Affordable Care Act (ACA) benefits. In a subsequent tweet he stated: “I have legislation introduced and ready to go that would extend the ACA enrollment deadline to May 1 as we continue the fight to extend the ACA tax credits. An extension has passed the House – we’re waiting for the Senate to do the same.” (January 14, 2026).
Pappas has been an active political figure in New Hampshire since serving in the state House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010 before joining Congress in 2019.[source] He was born in Manchester in 1980 and continues to reside there.[source] Pappas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University.[source]
