Chris Pappas, U.S. Congressman representing New Hampshire’s 1st district since 2019, used his social media platform to comment on recent legislative actions and funding delays, as well as advocate for mental health support for LGBTQ+ youth.

On July 25, 2025, Pappas criticized a Republican-backed law in a tweet, stating: “Thank you Michelle for sharing your story about how the Republicans’ Big, Ugly Law will have real and devastating consequences for you and so many others’ ability to get the care you need. Their law isn’t just big and ugly. It’s cruel.”

Later that day, he addressed federal funding issues: “There was no reason why these funds should’ve been delayed – a delay that continued to cause chaos in our communities. I’m glad these funds are being delivered following my repeated calls for the Administration to release them, but this mayhem must stop.” This statement reflects ongoing concerns over administrative delays affecting local communities.

On July 26, 2025, Pappas highlighted mental health challenges faced by LGBTQ+ youth: “We all know someone who struggles with their mental health, and LGBTQ+ youth are 4 times more likely to attempt suicide than their peers. I will continue fighting for the administration to restore 988’s subline for LGBTQ+ youth. Everyone deserves to know they have someone in”

Pappas has served in Congress since replacing Carol Shea-Porter in 2019 after previously serving in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010. Born in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1980, he graduated from Harvard University with a BA in 2002 and continues to reside in Manchester.
