Rep. Chris Pappas, U.S. Congressman representing New Hampshire’s 1st district since 2019, recently shared a series of updates on legislative initiatives and funding measures impacting his constituents in New Hampshire.
On January 13, 2026, Pappas posted about the House passing legislation with bipartisan support to extend the Affordable Care Act enhanced premium tax credits for three years. He stated, “Last week the House passed legislation with bipartisan support to extend the ACA enhanced premium tax credits for three years so that New Hampshire families can afford health insurance. Now, the Senate must do the same.”
Later that day, he announced full funding for a key law enforcement program: “WIN: Appropriations include full funding for the HIDTA program which supports law enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking and keep communities safe. I’ll continue working to ensure it stays that way.” The HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas) program provides resources for local law enforcement agencies to address drug-related crime.
On January 14, 2026, Pappas discussed new legislative efforts targeting substance misuse among college students: “I’m helping introduce legislation to bring evidence-informed treatment to our colleges, educate students on substance misuse, and help those working to overcome addiction. This is deeply personal for New Hampshire families, and I will continue supporting comprehensive efforts to”
Pappas has represented New Hampshire’s 1st District in Congress since replacing Carol Shea-Porter in 2019 and previously served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010. Born in Manchester in 1980 and currently residing there at age 42, Pappas graduated from Harvard University with a BA in 2002.
