Rep. Chris Pappas, who represents New Hampshire’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media addressing mental health resources, drug trafficking legislation, and government accountability between July 16 and July 17, 2025.
On July 16, Pappas highlighted the impact of a national mental health resource: “In just 3 years the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline has helped over 16 million people struggling with their mental health. The lifeline provides free, confidential support for anyone experiencing a mental health or substance-related crisis & is available 24/7.”
Later that day, he referenced recent legislative efforts targeting drug trafficking: “The HALT Fentanyl Act will ensure law enforcement retains the tools they need to crack down on drug traffickers. I fought to get it signed into law, but we cannot rest here. I remain committed to delivering the resources our communities need to stop traffickers, save lives, and”
On July 17, Pappas commented on proposed budget cuts affecting federal oversight agencies: “The @USGAO saved taxpayers $67.5 billion last year. House Republicans want to cut its budget in half. I’m calling on them to reverse course because we cannot fight waste, fraud, and abuse by gutting the one agency most responsible for uncovering it.”
Chris Pappas has served as U.S. Representative for New Hampshire’s 1st District since 2019 after succeeding Carol Shea-Porter. He previously held office in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010 and was born in Manchester in 1980. Pappas is an alumnus of Harvard University.
