Rep. Chris Pappas, U.S. Congressman representing New Hampshire’s 1st district since 2019, shared updates on his recent legislative initiatives and local impacts in a series of posts on January 23, 2026.
In a tweet posted at 14:47 UTC, Pappas highlighted bipartisan efforts to address rising utility costs: “Great to join @RepRileyNY to launch the Lowering Utility Bills Caucus yesterday. Congress needs to step up, take on corporations raking in record profits, and deliver solutions that lower people’s bills.” He announced the formation of the Lowering Utility Bills Caucus alongside Rep. Riley from New York.
Later that day at 20:13 UTC, Pappas noted federal investments coming back to his home state: “Appropriations bills are sending federal dollars back to New Hampshire to fund important community projects. Recently I had a chance to chat with some funding recipients and let them know the good news.”
At 21:28 UTC, he commented on a legal decision affecting education programs in New Hampshire: “WIN: A federal court has ruled the Trump administration illegally canceled funding for New Hampshire’s TRIO program, and programs must be evaluated based on merit – not political motivation. I’ve had the pleasure to speak with students in this program and learn about the impact” The ruling reinstated funding for TRIO programs, which provide support for low-income and first-generation college students.
Pappas has represented New Hampshire’s 1st District since replacing Carol Shea-Porter in Congress in 2019. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 until 2010. Born in Manchester in 1980, Pappas is also an alumnus of Harvard University.
