Rep. Chris Pappas, who represents New Hampshire’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared legislative updates and a local fact via his official Twitter account.
On March 17, 2026, Pappas announced the passage of legislation reauthorizing key small business research programs after an extended lapse in funding. He stated: “PASSED: After over five months of a lapse in funding due to congressional inaction, legislation to reauthorize key small business research programs (SBIR and STTR) has passed the House and Senate.
I fought for these programs that support our small businesses and ensure that” (March 17, 2026).
Later on March 17, Pappas posted about New Hampshire’s demographic distinction: “Fun fact: New Hampshire has the highest proportion of Irish ancestry in the country!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! ” (March 17, 2026).
On March 18, Pappas highlighted progress on housing legislation: “The updated, bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act that passed the Senate includes bills I am leading to:
Expand access to home loans to middle-class homeowners
Cut red tape and expand tools for communities to build more housing and lower costs
Help more veterans” (March 18, 2026).
Chris Pappas has served as U.S. Representative since 2019 after replacing Carol Shea-Porter. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010. Born in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1980, Pappas graduated from Harvard University with a BA in 2002.
