U.S. Representative Chris Pappas, who serves New Hampshire’s 1st district in Congress, shared updates on his legislative efforts and policy positions in a series of tweets posted on August 1, 2025.

In a tweet at 14:06 UTC, Pappas announced progress on legislation aimed at supporting veterans’ employment opportunities: “PASSED OUT OF COMMITTEE LAST WEEK: The Veterans’ Transition to Trucking Act. This bipartisan legislation would cut the red tape for interstate trucking companies to partner with VA, helping veterans get employed and ensuring our trucking industry has the workforce it needs.”

Later that day, at 19:18 UTC, Pappas criticized existing trade policies implemented by former President Trump, stating: “It’s clear: these tariffs are killing jobs, raising prices, and hurting our economy. President Trump needs to end this misguided policy now.”

At 21:23 UTC, he reiterated his commitment to constituents from New Hampshire—often referred to as Granite Staters—and highlighted his advocacy for federal healthcare programs: “I remain committed to listening to Granite Staters and fighting for what matters to them in Washington, including Medicare and Medicaid. Hear about my week in my Rewind video. “

Chris Pappas has represented New Hampshire’s 1st District since 2019 after succeeding Carol Shea-Porter. He previously served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 until 2010. Born in Manchester in 1980 and an alumnus of Harvard University (BA, 2002), Pappas continues to reside in Manchester while serving in Congress.
