Rep. Chris Pappas, a U.S. Congress member representing New Hampshire’s 1st district since 2019, recently shared his perspectives on several legislative issues through a series of tweets.
On June 11, 2025, Rep. Pappas expressed his opposition to a Republican budget proposal. He stated “I am headed to the floor to once again vote NO on the Republican budget scheme that would strip away health care and cut food assistance for New Hampshire families.” This tweet underscores his commitment to protecting healthcare and food assistance programs for residents of New Hampshire.
The following day, June 12, he highlighted an event in Washington D.C., aimed at promoting New Hampshire’s local culture and businesses. He tweeted “Experience New Hampshire brings Granite State culture to our nation’s capital by highlighting our small businesses and their unique products and services.” The event provided an opportunity for local entrepreneurs from New Hampshire to showcase their offerings.
Later that day, Rep. Pappas addressed the issue of opioid crisis management through legislation targeting fentanyl analogues. In his tweet “Permanently scheduling deadly fentanyl analogues as Schedule 1 will ensure law enforcement retains important tools to tackle the opioid crisis and hold traffickers accountable,” he emphasized the importance of classifying these substances under Schedule 1 for better legal control.
Rep. Chris Pappas has been serving in Congress since succeeding Carol Shea-Porter in 2019 after previously serving in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002-2010. Born in Manchester, NH in 1980, he is also a Harvard University graduate with a BA degree obtained in 2002.
