The City of Lebanon announced on May 1 an update regarding the Mechanic Street, Mascoma Street, and High Street roundabout construction project for the week of May 4.

This update is important for residents and commuters as it outlines ongoing construction activities that may affect traffic flow and pedestrian access in the area.

According to the announcement, recent work included marking underground utilities and exercising gate valves by city utility representatives. Nott’s Excavating installed construction signage, message boards, and conducted test pits to verify utility locations before starting drainage work. For the upcoming week, contractors and utility companies are scheduled to perform various tasks on-site and continue transferring utility cables. The city advises drivers to expect delays in the area and use caution when traveling through the work zone.

Pedestrian access will also be affected during this phase of construction. The south side sidewalk along Mascoma Street (Eastman Automotive side) will be temporarily closed between Granite Street and the crosswalk leading to Mascoma River Greenway. Pedestrians are directed to use a detour along the north side (Tanglez N Tanz side), with signs placed to guide them accordingly.

Further details about this infrastructure project can be found at LebanonNH.gov/Roundabout.

As work continues, city officials encourage residents to stay informed about changes that could impact daily commutes or neighborhood accessibility.
