An El Salvadorian national has been sentenced for unlawful reentry into the United States after being deported three times. Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack announced that Juan Ruiz, 30, who was living unlawfully in Manchester, pleaded guilty and received a sentence of time served, equating to two months.
Ruiz is currently in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation back to El Salvador. He had previously entered the United States illegally on three occasions and was deported on June 12, 2016, May 18, 2017, and October 14, 2021.
On April 22, 2025, the Manchester Police Department responded to a domestic violence report at Ruiz’s apartment. He was arrested for simple assault. Upon discovering his immigration status, law enforcement referred him to ICE.
The investigation was led by ICE with assistance from the Manchester Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexander S. Chen prosecuted the case.
This action is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators.
