The City of Lebanon’s Tree Advisory Board announced on May 12 that it will host a community tree planting event in partnership with the Department of Public Works. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, and will take place at Riverside Park and Veterans Memorial Pool.
Organizers say the goal is to encourage residents to help plant trees and support a greener environment. Community members are invited to participate regardless of gardening experience, with activities beginning at 9:00am at the skatepark in Riverside Park on Glen Road, West Lebanon, and concluding at Veterans Memorial Pool on Pumping Station Road.
Participants are asked to bring gloves and be prepared for outdoor work. Shovels and other necessary tools will be provided onsite. Families are welcome, as organizers highlight this as an opportunity for children and adults alike to contribute directly to Lebanon’s urban forest.
All volunteers must complete a City of Lebanon Volunteer Form before attending. Organizers say this requirement helps ensure proper coordination and safety during the event.
According to the announcement, “This community planting day is a hands-on way to contribute to Lebanon’s urban forest, beautify shared spaces, and improve the community’s environmental health. Whether an experienced gardener or a first-time planter, all are welcome to participate. See you Saturday!”
The Tree Advisory Board works closely with city departments on efforts related to growth, preservation, education, advocacy, and volunteerism aimed at enhancing quality of life for all residents.
