The library announced on May 19 that it is inviting children ages 6 to 11 to participate in an art event for the newly renovated Selig Storytime Room. The event is scheduled for May 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The initiative aims to engage young community members by giving them a chance to contribute artwork that will be displayed in the storytime room’s new gallery. Organizers say this effort will help make the space more welcoming and reflective of children’s creativity.
According to the announcement, materials will be provided at the event so participants can create their own masterpieces. The finished artworks will be showcased in the storytime room, allowing all visitors to admire contributions from local children.
The library said, “Join us at this special edition of Kids Create to make artwork to display in the storytime room. We will provide materials for you to create a masterpiece for us to display in our new art gallery for all to admire.”
This project highlights efforts by libraries and similar institutions nationwide that seek greater involvement from young patrons through interactive programs and creative opportunities.
Looking ahead, organizers hope that displaying children’s artwork will foster a sense of pride among participants and encourage ongoing engagement with library events.
