The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) is inviting proposals for the adaptive reuse of Drake’s Bridge, located over the former Pan Am Railroad in North Hampton, NH. Interested parties must submit their proposals electronically to Bureau16@dot.nh.gov by 12:00 PM on July 3, 2025. The subject line should read: “PROPOSAL FOR THE ADAPTIVE REUSE OF DRAKE’S BRIDGE.”
Drake’s Bridge is a single-span Reinforced Concrete T-Beam bridge with stone abutments. It measures approximately 42 feet in length and 42.3 feet in width, with a 37-degree skew on a northeast-southwest axis. The structure includes eight longitudinal beams, with the two northernmost beams flared to accommodate road curvature and an intersection west of the bridge. The outer beams extend into a cantilevered deck section that supports curbs and concrete balustrades featuring arched openings.
Further details, including location maps, inventory forms, and draft historic covenants, can be found on NHDOT’s Disposition of Historic Bridges webpage at https://www.dot.nh.gov/historic-bridge-dispositions-bridges-sale.
