Public hearing set for NH Route 1A safety improvements

A public hearing is scheduled to discuss proposed safety and mobility improvements on NH Route 1A, also known as Ocean Boulevard. The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) aims to address the needs of all users along a stretch beginning at Hampton Beach State Park and extending approximately 3.3 miles north to the intersection of High Street in Hampton.

The hearing will take place on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Winnicunnet High School in Hampton. Attendees can review plans starting at 6:00 PM. Local officials, landowners, and highway users are encouraged to attend and provide feedback on the project. Audio recordings will be made available.

Relevant documents such as maps, plans, and environmental studies are accessible for review at the NHDOT office in Concord. Appointments can be made by contacting Project Manager Loretta Girard Doughty at (603) 271-2230.

Written comments may be submitted to William Oldenburg, Director of Project Development at NHDOT, until September 12, 2025. Submissions can be sent by mail or email for inclusion in the official record.

NHDOT ensures compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to prevent discrimination. Alternative formats of this information are available upon request through the NHDOT Public Information Office before July 28, 2025.
