Rep. Chris Pappas, a U.S. Congressman representing New Hampshire’s 1st district since 2019, recently shared insights on his engagements and initiatives through social media posts. The congressman, who succeeded Carol Shea-Porter in 2019, continues to focus on community safety, equitable justice, and the preservation of beneficial programs in New Hampshire.
On May 12, Rep. Pappas expressed his commitment to supporting law enforcement agencies by ensuring they have necessary resources. He stated: “Our law enforcement answers the call every day to keep our communities safe and help those in need. In Congress, I’m proud to work to ensure they have the resources they need to do their jobs.” He also mentioned visiting the Newfields Police Department and meeting with Chief Young.
The following day, May 13, Pappas attended an event with NH Community Legal Services (NH_CLS) where he recognized individuals contributing towards making New Hampshire a fairer place. He tweeted: “I joined @NH_CLS this morning to thank all those who work to help community members and make NH a stronger, fairer, more equitable place for all.” Additionally, he congratulated Nina Gardner for receiving the John Tobin Justice Award.
Later that same day, Pappas voiced concerns over cuts affecting AmeriCorps programs in New Hampshire. He emphasized their importance by stating: “Let me be clear: @AmeriCorps does incredible work across New Hampshire, and our communities will be worse off without these programs.” According to him, these programs play crucial roles such as environmental protection and assisting seniors.
Chris Pappas was born in Manchester in 1980 and graduated from Harvard University with a BA in 2002. Before serving in Congress, he was part of the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 until 2010.
