Rep. Chris Pappas, who represents New Hampshire’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on January 20, 2026, addressing recent federal policy changes and local community events.
In his first post at 17:01 UTC, Pappas criticized a new decision by the Trump administration regarding air pollution regulations. He wrote, “In an outrageous and dangerous new move by the Trump administration, they will no longer consider the harm that air pollution has on people’s health. I’m fighting for Granite Staters and their wellbeing – not corporations and their profits.”
Later that day at 18:05 UTC, Pappas highlighted his participation in local events honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., stating, “Ended yesterday with the National Cultural Diversity Awareness Council’s Keeping the Dream Alive event in Manchester and a gospel celebration in Newington. We must ensure the wisdom of Dr. King continues to echo from our prodigious hilltops to every corner of our country.”
In another post at 22:15 UTC, Pappas addressed economic concerns faced by New Hampshire residents over the past year. He said, “The numbers don’t lie. New Hampshire families paid $2,100 more last year due to inflation. From reckless tariffs to slashing health care, the Trump administration is making life more expensive for families, seniors, and small businesses.”
Chris Pappas has served as U.S. Representative for New Hampshire’s 1st District since 2019 after succeeding Carol Shea-Porter. Before his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010 and is a lifelong resident of Manchester, where he was born in 1980.
He graduated from Harvard University with a BA in 2002.
