Rep. Chris Pappas, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing New Hampshire’s 1st district since 2019, has been actively addressing several key issues through his recent social media posts.
On July 8, Pappas addressed concerns about proposed budget cuts to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program by the Trump Administration. He stated that “The HIDTA program helps law enforcement agencies combat drug trafficking and keep our communities safe.” Emphasizing his opposition to these cuts, he mentioned his efforts to protect the program.
The following day, on July 9, Pappas highlighted his advocacy for American manufacturing and economic growth through strategic investments. He noted that “Smart investments in American manufacturing can grow our economy, create jobs, and increase our global competitiveness.” He praised the MEP National Network as an effective initiative in this area and expressed satisfaction with securing funding for it.
Later on July 9, Pappas reiterated his commitment to equal legal protections for all Americans. He shared news of a bipartisan effort in New Hampshire that banned LGBTQ+ “panic” defenses in state courts last year. Reflecting on this achievement, he declared: “Every American deserves the same protections under the law.” Additionally, he announced plans to reintroduce legislation aiming to ban such defenses at the federal level.
Pappas was born in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1980 and currently resides there. He graduated from Harvard University with a BA in 2002 and previously served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010 before joining Congress.
