Chris Pappas, currently serving as a U.S. Congressman for New Hampshire’s 1st district, has shared several updates on social media regarding various issues affecting his constituents. His recent tweets address topics ranging from military appreciation to local economic concerns.
On May 19, 2025, Pappas highlighted Military Appreciation Month, expressing gratitude towards servicemembers and their families. In his post, he stated, “May marks Military Appreciation Month. This month we honor the service of all America’s troops, past and present. Thank you to all active-duty servicemembers, veterans, and military families for your service to our nation.”
Later that day, Pappas criticized actions by the current administration and the Department of Governmental Education (DOGE), particularly regarding cuts to New Hampshire Americorps programs. He tweeted on May 19: “Actions by this administration and DOGE continue to leave communities scrambling, including now cutting NH Americorps programs. These programs help our students, seniors, economy, and more. I’ll continue to stand up for our communities.”
On May 20, 2025, Pappas addressed the economic impact of tariffs imposed by President Trump on Canada. He emphasized the negative effects on New Hampshire’s tourism economy due to these tariffs and hostile policies toward Canada. In his statement he noted: “We are already seeing the negative impact of President Trump’s tariffs and hostility toward Canada on NH’s tourism economy. Canada is our #1 trading partner, and Canadians are frequent visitors to our state. This administration’s actions are hurting our businesses and jobs.”
Chris Pappas has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Carol Shea-Porter. He was born in Manchester in 1980 and holds a BA from Harvard University.
