Rep. Chris Pappas, who represents New Hampshire’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several issues affecting his constituents through a series of posts on social media.
On October 10, 2025, Pappas expressed his ongoing commitment to supporting students in higher education. He stated, “Helping students of all backgrounds find success in higher education is something I will always support and fight for. I was grateful to meet with these students, hear about their passion to learn and drive to succeed, and I know this roadblock won’t stop them.”
Later that day, Pappas commented on the status of the federal government shutdown and criticized House leadership for not reconvening. He wrote on October 10, 2025: “Today marks Day 10 of the shutdown and Speaker Johnson has failed to call the House into session for three weeks. Here’s my update. https://t.co/OoJWhFAZXF”
On October 11, 2025, Pappas highlighted concerns over both the ongoing shutdown and rising health insurance costs impacting residents of New Hampshire. He posted: “Granite Staters have already started to feel the negative impacts of the shutdown and impending health insurance price hikes. I’m fighting for legislation that tackles both these issues. I’ll keep listening to Granite Staters and working for them.”
Chris Pappas has served as a member of Congress since 2019 after succeeding Carol Shea-Porter. Before his tenure in Washington D.C., he served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010. Born in Manchester in 1980, Pappas continues to reside there today and holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University.
