Rep. Chris Pappas, a current U.S. Congressman representing New Hampshire’s 1st district, recently used Twitter to address several issues impacting his constituents. These issues include trade tariffs affecting local industries, support for postal workers, and the funding freeze on family planning services.

On March 31, 2025, Pappas attributed rising costs for New Hampshire’s maple syrup producers to President Trump’s tariff policies and criticized the funding freeze on essential grants supporting the industry. He called for the reinstatement of these grants, as seen in his tweet: “Not only are President Trump’s tariffs increasing costs for New Hampshire maple producers, but his funding freeze is withholding grants that provide critical support to the maple syrup industry. I’m calling for these grants to be reinstated.”

On April 1, 2025, Pappas expressed concern over postal services, advocating for strengthened deliveries and protection for postal workers. He acknowledged the hard work of these workers and discussed the challenges they face in a conversation with leaders from the NH Rural Letter Carriers Association. In his words: “We must strengthen deliveries, protect postal workers, and fight against efforts to harm mail service. I spoke with NH Rural Letter Carriers Association leaders about what they’re seeing on the ground. Thank you to all postal workers for their public service and hard work.”

The same day, Pappas criticized the Trump administration for freezing funding for Planned Parenthood and other family planning providers, highlighting the risk this poses to preventative care access for New Hampshire residents. He pledged to do everything in his power to ensure the reinstatement of these funds. His tweet stated: “The Trump administration is freezing funding for Planned Parenthood and other family planning providers in New Hampshire and across the country – putting preventative care at risk for thousands of Granite Staters. I’m going to do everything possible to make sure that these funds.”
