Representative Chris Pappas, who has served New Hampshire’s 1st District in the U.S. Congress since 2019, recently addressed issues related to federal funding for schools and economic policy through a series of social media posts. Pappas, a Manchester native and Harvard graduate, focused his remarks on the withholding of education funds by the Trump Administration and on the impact of tariffs on American families.

On July 15, 2025, Pappas stated that “$27 million for New Hampshire schools is being unlawfully withheld by the Trump Administration. This funding supports students, after-school programs, adult education, and more.”

Later that day, he further commented that “There is no legitimate reason why a review of these programs should prevent the Administration from fulfilling its responsibility to the American people on time. I’m demanding that they follow the law and release this funding for our schools and families.”

In another post made on July 15, 2025, Pappas addressed trade policy under President Trump: “President Trump’s tariffs will only raise prices for American families – on groceries, cars, and housing. To strengthen U.S. manufacturing, let’s continue to invest in our manufacturers like we did with the CHIPS and Science Act.”

Chris Pappas has represented New Hampshire’s 1st District in Congress since replacing Carol Shea-Porter in 2019. He previously served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010.
