Rep. Chris Pappas, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Hampshire’s 1st district since 2019, recently shared several updates on social media. His messages focused on mental health awareness and his engagement with community initiatives.
On May 16, 2025, Rep. Pappas emphasized the importance of mental health awareness by stating “You are never alone.” He highlighted #NationalMentalHealthAwarenessMonth as a time to care for oneself and others while ending the stigma around seeking help. Pappas provided information about free and confidential resources available around the clock.
Later that day, he reported a meeting with Susan Sterns, Executive Director of NAMI New Hampshire. In his post, he shared that “This week I met with @NAMI_NH Executive Director Susan Sterns to discuss how Medicaid helps Granite Staters access critical mental health services.” Pappas affirmed his commitment to supporting these services by declaring that he will not back down from this fight.
Additionally, on May 16, 2025, Rep. Pappas attended an event honoring law enforcement officers in New Hampshire. He expressed gratitude by saying “It was an honor to join members of New Hampshire’s law enforcement community at the Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial today.” He acknowledged the sacrifices made by those in uniform and their families who serve alongside them.
Chris Pappas has been serving in Congress since replacing Carol Shea-Porter in 2019 and previously served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010. Born in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1980, he graduated from Harvard University with a BA in 2002.
