Rep. Chris Pappas, currently representing New Hampshire’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, shared his reflections on social media regarding Vietnam War Veterans Day and actions concerning federal funding for libraries. A seasoned politician, Pappas was elected to Congress in 2019, succeeding Carol Shea-Porter, and has been an advocate for his constituents and various causes.

On March 29, 2025, Pappas posted: “On this Vietnam War Veterans Day, we reflect on the sacrifice of all those who bravely served, including over 39,000 Granite Staters. You have our deepest thanks and gratitude for your service.”

In another post on the same day, he expressed concerns over federal funding for libraries, writing: “President Trump does not have the authority to stop Congressionally-appropriated funding. NH libraries are community hubs that provide books, internet access, classes, & more. I’ll fight for this funding to be delivered to communities as promised.” This statement highlighted his commitment to fighting for promised funding and emphasized the importance of libraries to communities.

Following this, Pappas noted his collaboration with other lawmakers to safeguard library and museum funding. He stated: “I joined @RepGoodlander, @SenatorShaheen, & @SenatorHassan in demanding the administration reverse their decision to strip funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and instead, bolster support for libraries and museums.”
