Lisa Mazur, a Representative from New Hampshire, announced that her bills restricting puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries for minors have passed committee. The statement was made on the social media platform X.
“Ironically, my two bills that will stop children in NH from being harmed by puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and irreversible surgeries passed through Committee of Conference yesterday,” said Liza Mazur. “Today the Skrmetti case has been decided. NH is next on the map for protecting kids!”
According to New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR), in June 2025, New Hampshire lawmakers advanced bills to ban puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and chest surgery for minors. This move reflects a broader national trend following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to allow similar state bans to stand.
NHPR reports that a January 2025 study using data from Harvard and Folx Health found that fewer than 1,000 minors in New Hampshire accessed puberty blockers and fewer than 2,000 received hormone therapy between 2018 and 2022. This indicates that such treatments are rare among youth in the state.
According to the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF), by early 2025, laws restricting gender-affirming care for minors were enacted in 27 U.S. states—19 with full bans and several with partial restrictions—affecting nearly 40% of transgender youth nationwide. In New Hampshire, only surgeries for those under 18 are limited.
LegiScan reports that Mazur is a Republican member of the New Hampshire House from Goffstown. She sponsors bills in 2025 aimed at banning gender-affirming care for minors and focuses on parental rights and youth health as part of her legislative agenda.
