A jointly conducted poll from Trafalgar Group and the Convention of States Action found that Americans do not have confidence in Kamala Harris to serve as president should the situation arise while President Joe Biden is in office. 

These results are not only significant because the vice president is next in line for the presidency, but also because Harris could be a 2024 presidential nominee, should Biden decide to step aside due to age.

The Trafalgar Group survey questioned 1,161 likely general election voters. The survey shows that 63.6% of respondents said they were not confident that Harris is ready to be president, with 58.6% being "not confident at all."

The results differed by party affiliation, but all showed signs of a significant lack of confidence in Harris. In total, 42.6% of Democrats surveyed were not confident, compared to 88.4% of Republicans. And 61.8% of independents were not confident in Harris.

The Convention of States Action is a grassroots political organization with over 5 million supporters across the U.S. The organization's primary focus is on calling an Article V Convention of the States to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution. COSA only promotes amendments that would impose limitations on the size and scope of the federal government.

“Our last poll found that most Americans don’t believe Joe Biden is actually running the country, and today we’re learning voters think Kamala Harris’ tenure as vice president has been a disaster, and she’s absolutely not ready to step in and take his place," Mark Meckler, president of Convention of States Action, said, according to the COSA website. "Washington D.C. has never been more radically out of step with the will of the American people than right now."

The Trafalgar Group is a public polling and market research firm. Its website states that Real Clear Politics called it the "most accurate pollster of the cycle among those firms that polled multiple Senate and governor races” this year. Its founder, Robert Cahaly, has worked on several Republican campaigns, including that of former President Donald Trump.
