An athlete with New Hampshire ties recently won the silver medal in synchronized diving during the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Dover native Jessica Parratto medaled in her event on the morning of July 27.

Parratto had recently moved to Indiana to train for the games as she Indiana University, where she excelled as a diver, according to the Indy Star.

Gov. Chris Sununu (R) tweeted his congratulations to Parratto and noted the New Hampshire area code in the process.

“WOW - talk about making it a #Super603Day! Congratulations to New Hampshire's own Jessica Parratto on taking home a silver medal in synchronized diving at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics! Way to go! #603Pride,” he Tweeted on July 28.

Swimming talent runs in Parratto’s family as her father, Mike Parratto, is a swim coach who coached Olympic gold medalist swimmer Jenny Thompson, who Jessica has likened to a sister, according to her Team USA profile.

Jessica’s mom, Amy, was a five-time All-American diver at Wellesley College and was Jessica’s coach until she was 14.

Parratto and her partner, Delaney Schnell, were the first Americans to ever medal in the synchronized 10-meter platform event, with the Chinese team winning the gold, according to reporting by WMUR9. In fact, the Chinese have won the event ever since it was introduced in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Parratto made the Olympics five years ago in Rio de Janeiro  and has also been on three world championship teams for the United States.
