New Hampshire drivers will pay an average of $3.32 per gallon of regular gasoline this month versus $2.35 last year. This is a 41 percent increase equaling $0.96 per gallon.
Of the two New Hampshire metropolitan areas analyzed, drivers in Manchester faced the largest price hike at the pump in the last year of $38.81. Portsmouth-Rochester (NH only) was spared the worst pain, with the price of gas rising $37.41 from February 2021 to February 2022.
In a November 2021 press release, U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-New Hampshire) and Maggie Hassan (D-New Hampshire) urged President Biden to take action to help lower gas prices.
“High gasoline prices have placed an undue burden on families and small businesses trying to make ends meet, and have proven especially burdensome as our constituents continue to recover from the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic,” the Senators wrote.
