The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) responded to Governor Kelly Ayotte's recent budget address. John Reynolds, the NFIB New Hampshire State Director, issued a statement following the governor's speech before the state legislature.
"Granite State small business owners applaud Governor Ayotte’s strong commitment to reining in government spending and stopping tax hikes on hardworking families," Reynolds stated. He highlighted ongoing challenges faced by Main Street businesses, including inflation, higher supply costs, labor expenses, and workforce shortages.
Reynolds warned that raising taxes on small businesses could exacerbate these issues and potentially reverse progress made over the past decade in making New Hampshire's tax system more competitive for independent businesses. "We trust that lawmakers will follow Governor Ayotte’s lead and preserve the New Hampshire Advantage by rejecting new taxes and mandates, reducing regulations that hinder small business growth, and make our state an even better place to live, work, and raise a family," he added.
