The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announced that construction on the US Route 202 realignment in downtown Jaffrey will resume April 13, 2026, and include daily lane closures.

According to the department, work will continue on a new bridge over the Contoocook River and a new US 202 connector road. The upcoming phase will reconstruct portions of Route 202 (River Street) and Blake Street to re-route US 202 over the new bridge to the existing five-way intersection of US 202 and NH 124. This year’s scheduled work will affect River Street, Stratton Road, Blake Street, and Main Street (NH 124/US 202).

Weather permitting, lane closures with one-way alternating traffic are expected each day between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. The project also includes constructing two roundabouts, improving drainage systems, upgrading utilities, and repairing the existing US 202/NH 124 bridge on Main Street.

Message boards, flaggers, uniformed officers, and other traffic control devices will be used as needed to direct travelers through the area. Road users are encouraged to consider alternate routes or plan for delays during peak hours. The department also encourages signing up for free real-time construction and traffic updates via text or email from https://newengland511.org/.

BUR Construction LLC of Newport is serving as contractor for this $23 million project. Completion is scheduled for summer of 2028. More information can be found at the organization’s website.
