UNH women's volleyball coach: 'Our team represented UNH with pride and a tremendous effort'

The Providence Friars defeated the University of New Hampshire Wildcats in a total of four sets on Sept. 4, on the final day of the tournament.

The set scores were 25-23, 12-25, 22-25 and 23-25, according to the UNH Wildcats' website.

"Friars win!! Providence closes out the Holly Young Tournament with 3-1 victory over UNH, improving to 6-1 on the season. Go Friars," Providence VB Tweeted Sept. 4.

New Hampshire won the first set at 25-23, but with the next few sets, they lost to the Providence Friars.

"First and foremost, I want to say that our team represented UNH this weekend at our home tournament with pride and a tremendous effort to represent the memory of Holly Young," UNH head coach Christopher Feliciano said, according to the Wildcats' website.

After the game, UNH dropped to 3-3 overall, while Providence improved to 6-1 overall. In the entire game, there were three players from the Friars who made double-digit kills, and these were Shaliyah Rhoden (21), Emma Nelson (12) and Emma Fink (10). Rhoden was also selected as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. The players chosen for the All-Tournament team are: Rhoden, Allison Barber, Fink, Mia Pagliarini and Wren Macaulay.
