NH Enhanced 9-1-1 issued the following announcement on Sep. 24.
National Preparedness Month observed each September encourages Americans to take steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses, schools, and communities. As we approach the last week of the month, we urge everyone to ‘Prepare to Protect’ in any emergency. In the event of disasters, your family should make a plan, build a kit, and be informed. Visit www.ready.nh.gov or @NH.HSEM for helpful resources to prepare for disasters.
When faced with a 9-1-1 emergency, teach family members what is and what is not a real emergency. Children should know the phone numbers in the home as well as their home address (number, street name, and town). For 9-1-1 emergencies away from home, be prepared to provide the location of the emergency – street name and number, town name, highway, the direction of travel, mile marker number, or landmarks that would help responders find the emergency.
Help us help you.
