The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has launched new radio and digital advertisements in New Hampshire, aiming to persuade members of Congress to prevent a significant tax increase on small businesses. The NFIB is urging the passage of the Main Street Tax Certainty Act, which would make the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent.
Bruce Berke, NFIB New Hampshire State Director, stated, "New Hampshire small businesses cannot afford a 20% tax increase right now, and that’s why we’re urging Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Senator Maggie Hassan to pass the Main Street Tax Certainty Act and avoid a massive tax hike on Main Street." He emphasized that making the deduction permanent would alleviate one concern for small business owners facing various economic challenges.
NFIB President Brad Close added, "Small businesses are the foundation of our economy, yet more than 30 million of them are about to face a massive tax hike that would hurt their ability to create jobs and give back to their communities."
The 20% Small Business Deduction was introduced as part of the 2017 tax law. It aims to level the playing field between small businesses and larger corporations. This deduction has helped small business owners navigate recent economic difficulties but is set to expire at the end of 2025. The proposed legislation seeks to extend this benefit permanently.
For over eight decades, NFIB has been advocating for America's small and independent business owners across all states and in Washington D.C. As a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization founded in 1943, NFIB remains dedicated solely to supporting these businesses.
