New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) has issued a proclamation recognizing Jan. 23-29 as New Hampshire School Choice Week, recognizing the need for families across the state to have flexible education opportunities for their children.
Sununu made the proclamation to increase awareness of opportunities available, according to Cision PR Newswire, and it was announced that 105 celebrations are being planned by schools, organizations and individuals across the state, as National School Choice Week includes more than 26,000 activities across the country.
Events will include the illumination of more than two dozen landmarks and notable buildings around the country in special colors.
"As each year passes, New Hampshire families continue to see their education options expand," Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week, told PR Newswire. "In addition to a variety of quality options within the public education sector, New Hampshire last year expanded access to private education for families by creating a new education savings account program."
A virtual informational event will be held Tuesday, Jan. 25, for school scholarship families. A field trip for homeschool families to the State House in Concord will be held the same day.
New Hampshire lawmakers in 2021 passed the Education Freedom Account Program, which allows students whose families are living at 300% of the poverty level to receive tuition assistance to tailor to their educational needs.
