NHSP and Marine Patrol Was Notified of a Possible Drowning on Berry Pond in the Town of Moultonborough

On Sunday, March 13, 2022, at approximately 8:17 AM, #NHSP #MarinePatrol was notified of a possible drowning on Berry Pond in the Town Of Moultonborough. Upon investigation, it was learned that a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, with two occupants, broke through the ice. The driver was able to exit the cab but the passenger was trapped inside. The driver and good Samaritans attempted to get the trapped passenger out of the vehicle before it became submerged. Despite these efforts, the passenger was unable to exit the vehicle.  At approximately 11:57 AM, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Dive Team was able to recover the 70-year old male victim, who was from Moultonborough, within the submerged vehicle.  He was pronounced deceased.  His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Responding agencies included New Hampshire State Police-Marine Patrol, NHSP #TroopE, New Hampshire Fish and Game, Moultonborough Police Department, Moultonborough Fire Department, and Sandwich Police Department.

UPDATE - The victim was identified as John Cook, age 70, of Moultonborough, NH.
